GRACoL® 7 Expert Certification

GRACoL Experts Certification

The new GRACoL 7 Experts Program  is designed identify those consultants, trainers and other  industry professionals who are expert  in the new GRACoL 7 (G7) press calibration process and are authorized to provide training and consulting services for GRACoL. Professionals certified through this program will be authorized to use the GRACoL trademark on their websites and in their marketing materials and training programs. These individuals will also be granted license to use IDEAlliance GRACoL training materials as a basis for their own GRACoL 7 consulting and training offerings. Additionally, GRACoL Certified Experts will be uniquely authorized to read and qualify the measurements on press sheets being submitted by printing facilities for the new IDEAlliance Master Printer Program.

Requirements

Requirements for certification as a GRACoL 7 Expert include:

  • The individual being certified must be either a full organizational member or a consulting member of IDEAlliance. Consulting membership is open to consultant practices of 5 or less individuals. GRACoL Network members are not eligible to become GRACoL 7 Certified Consultants/Trainers.
  • The individual being certified must attend either an IDEAlliance Certification Training program or have attended an IDEAlliance Press Run using the GRACoL 7 methodology.
  • The consultant / trainer will provide a resume of experience with two references.
  • The consultant / trainer will provide a consulting/training plan for GRACoL 7 for evaluation by the IDEAlliance GRACoL Program Manager.
  • The consultant / trainer will base training on printing and measuring the official GRACoL 7 Press form. Their clients will be required to purchase a digital copy of that Press Form from www.printtools.org. The form includes the purchase of required ISO SCID images and IT8 targets that are copyrighted and cannot be freely distributed by either IDEAlliance or the GRACoL Expert.

Fees per Expert

A total fee for a 2 year certification of an individual consultant/trainer is $1,300.00 USD. This includes:

  • A non-refundable $300.00 application fee
  • A $1,000.00 fee for 2 days of GRACoL Training (expenses not included)

Note: Each consultant must be recertified after 2 years.

Benefits

  • Use of GRACoL Expert Logo on the website, marketing and training materials of the certified Expert
  • Access to use the source of official GRACoL Slide presentations and to modify them for individual training and consulting use
  • Status to assist printers to become recognized Master Printers and to notarize the measurements to be submitted for certification.
  • 20% discount on the IDEAL Curve Calculator software when it becomes (future).
  • Listing on the GRACoL website as a certified Expert with contact information and a link back to the consultant’s website.

Description:
You will attend a 2-day press run at the Meyers Printing Facility lead by Don Hutcheson, chair of the GRACoL Committee. On the first day you will begin with an overview of the new GRACoL press calibration process. You will be introduced to the new way to look at color by focusing on colorimetric data for grey balance in the mid-tones rather than on the densitometric aims (TVI) for each color. You will learn to calculate both the Highlight Range (HR) and the Neutral Print Density Curve (NPDC) for a press. Using the graph paper method, you will learn how to calculate curve correction values in order to create proofs using the G7 methodology. On the second day, you use  the methodology on press to force the press to GRACoL 7  aims for high quality commercial offset printing. Attendance will qualify you for G7 Expert Certification.

Qualifications:
Individuals seeking training must be an IDEAlliance member and must have experience in color measurement and on pressroom techniques.

A non-refundable $300.00 application fee
A training registration fee of $1,000.00
